Akitas are only aggressive if not properly socialized as a puppy. I have a three year old akita male and he is the friendliest dog, walks up to everyone wagging his tail, lets kids play with him, is great with other animals and has never been in one fight or bit anyone.(we have five other dogs, two of which are tiny chihuahuas and two cats). His only fault is that he chews up toys and teddy bears like there is no tomorrow. Just like with any dog, it's about how they are raised.
