It took months for my layed back shih tzu to get along with my hyper little bichon puppy. It's been actually 7 mths and they're still working on it. Do not keep them seperated because you won't beable to live like that forever and they have to get to know each other. I contacted a trainer and she came to the house and told me to just put them in a room together and see what happens (us in the room with them of course). They barked and snapped ect. But after a few wks of this they eventually started playing. I know nothing about Akitas so seek professional advise if you were to try that. But def. do not favor the puppy. Your Akita should come first to show him he is still your #1 pal. This could be VERY stressful, just be patient, it takes a while. Good luck.

you need to make sure the pup is never alone with the akita...have them with you but keep the akita on a leach...show the akita that she is still loved and you havent just forgotten about her...when you pet them pet the akita first and when its feeding time feed the akita first it show that she is dominant because she was there first...good luck!

give it time. it's prolly a combination of jealousy and being territorial. the other 2 got along because they lived together and they had established a pecking order. the dog prolly sees the knew dog as infringing on it's turf. plus you may have shown more attention to the new dog. just give them some time and keep it supervised and they will eventually get along fine.

Keeping them seperate is not going to work as a long term solution, and will cause you such stress. Try reintroducing them very slowly. Akitas can be territorial, so in your dogs eyes, there is a new dog in her home and it is her job to protect the home. Take the akita for a long walk to tire her out a bit. Then, outdoors and with both dogs leashed, introduce them to eachother slowly. It might take some time, and multiple tries to get them to accept eachother, but it's worth doing. If all else fails, contact a behaviorist.
