My Akita puppy has a dead tooth what can I do?

akita
Tiffany Patterson asked:

When i got my akita it had a grey tooth. The breeder told me it was a dead tooth and would eventually fall out. He's 3 months old now and it still looks the same. What can I do? IF it falls out will a new tooth grow in?

You can try to pull it out gently. If not, it will simply fall out and he will swallow it or eat it with his food. No harm either way.

A new tooth WILL grow in it's place. This is very normal.

Bad breeder.
Take the dog to the vet. You should probably get the tooth pulled.

Bring the dog to an experienced vet.

Let him chew on bones or anything that is for a dog that is hard. Eventually and with a little luck it will fall out itself.

Goodluck.

Have the vet pull it out. it may be hard but its for the best.

Teeth fall out from 3-6 mos of age. There is every likelihood it will fall out as the new adult teeth come in. If it does not you simply have the tooth pulled when its time to neuter your dog.
